ANGRY: Just read a bunch of articles about the supposed discovery of a gay caveman. I have no doubt that gay cavemen existed, but the reasoning for thinking that this particular skeleton was gay ("a homosexual or a transvestite" were the only possible conclusions that these articles came to) is that the skeleton was biologically male, but buried in a way that we have only previously found females buried.
I hate to break it to these scientists, but not all cultures in history have viewed sexuality as having anything to do with gender stereotypes. Many cultures throughout history have accepted homosexual behaviors as the norm, without our culture's stigmas of "gay men are girly men" or "lesbians are butch man haters". There are plenty of cultures throughout history that accepted transgender, gender varient, and dual gendered people as existing, and respected that those things were okay.
Obviously they couldn't have sex changes at the time, but is it so fucking hard to conceive of the notion that there might have been a caveWOMAN who was born male? A trans person shouldn't NEED to undergo surgery to be considered or treated in a way that makes them feel comfortable. Are we that behind as a culture? Is it really possible that we, now, are less accepting and understanding than cavemen?

This account is old
The vast majority of art on this account is very old. Much of it is from fandoms I'm no longer in, or stories I'm no longer working on. Some of it expresses opinions I no longer share, or uses problematic language I no longer use.
I have a mental roadblock against taking down my old art or writing for a number of reasons. The main reason is that I want to hold myself accountable for past actions, and I feel like taking my old art down because I now disagree with it equates to pretending I never did anything that I now disagree with. It feels like pretending I've never made mistakes. This is not a standard I hold other people to, but it's one
I... I have zero messages... 8D
It has been so long since I had zero messages as my baseline on DA, I can't even express how weirdly freeing this is. It makes me feel like I'm not behind. This is s stupid journal and doesn't require anyone to read it or respond to it, I'm just bizarrely excited.
Also ill, which is probably why my brain is going nuts over this "accomplishment."

LINKS TO OTHER PEOPLE'S AWESOME ARTWORK (Is that attention grabbing enough for a journal header?)
I've decided to post journals when I have the time to browse the most recent page on DA, and find some things worth looking at. One of the things that disappoints me about this art site is the ease with which skilled and worthwhile artists vanish beneath the sheer bulk of less skilled or otherwise less interesting artists, so I want to give a spotlight (even if it's a relatively small one) to some of the skilled artists that I've come across by mere chance.

Excellent reasoning! I totally agree! It doesn't matter what parts you have. You are who you are!
