Tabaet (the pale guy) and Azazel (the glowing woman). Characters of mine. No stealing.

They are both shapeshifters with immense power. I kind of wanted to name this "Tectonic Plates", because that's sort of how I imagine it when they have sex: this slow motion of two massive forms pressing into and across each other. It just feels so cosmic in some way. I don't know if that comes across at all in the picture, but I hope it at least seems... more than human.

Tabaet is the son of two of the most powerful beings on their planet: the Guardian of Fear, and the Guardian of Spirit. Azazel's father is the Guardian of Light, and her mother is the Legend known as Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of fire, lightning, dance, volcanoes, etc.

I've drawn Tabaet before here: [link]
My friend T drew Tabaet here: [link] and (colored mostly right) here: [link]

I haven't drawn Azazel before, but I drew her mother and half brother here: [link] and her half brother here: [link] and here: [link] and here: [link] and here (with his best friend, who is also Azazel's friend): [link]

Azazel, being the daughter of the Guardian of Light, glows sometimes--especially when she's preoccupied with something intense. Like really yummy sex.

The real reason I drew this is that I've been drawing Tabaet for a meme that I'm doing, and he looks a bit like Snape if somebody drew only Snape's outline, and left the inside white. He's not traditionally attractive. I, personally, think he's FIIINE, but it's because I know him really well. I write from his perspective for parts of the book series that he's in, so I GET him. Here's the thing: as a shapeshifter, his physical appearance is entirely his own design. The reason he looks so tired is that he made his shape, and then doesn't really care for it, so he IS physically tired. He could looks rejuvenated at any time if he so desired, but he doesn't really care enough to put in the energy. So he looks exhausted all the time. And super thin. Too thin. He's NOT traditionally attractive. His personality is sort of despondent. At. All. Times. He has some autistic qualities. He's hard to get along with because he's awkward, unhappy, and low energy. So even his personality is not traditionally attractive. He's highly intellectual (one of his few redeeming qualities), but he keeps his thoughts mostly to himself.

Alternately, Azazel looks like a goddess of sexuality. She is stunning, and vibrant, and she glows, and she's patient, loving, affectionate, motherly, regal, respectful, and very very ZEN in her outlook on life. She is active, emotional, and a good balance between intro and extroverted.

And she is in love with Tabaet. And he's not really completely in love with her. I'm not really giving away anything about the story here, because that much is basically known from the get-go. Their relationship isn't working. He LOVES her as a person, he just isn't IN love with her romantically. But now that they're in a sexual relationship, he doesn't know how to go back.

So the REASON I DREW THIS is not because they work as a pairing, so much, but because I wanted to see for myself what they'd look like together. I've been stuck in my head lately, thinking about how people are going to think of him as ugly, and her as beautiful, and not understand what she sees in him; not understand how it could be HIM who's not interested. I had to draw it, to show myself how beautiful they are together--how well they work, visually--so that I don't have to worry about that anymore.

She's all soft curves, and he's all hard angles, and you'd think that would cause conflict, but I think it actually works.

The other important thing is that she feels drawn to people who NEED her. She sees him in pain, and she can't let it go. She wants to help him, wants to fix him, wants to make him feel all better. But she can't, because she becomes part of the problem. So he keeps getting worse, and she has a really hard time letting go.

Tell me what YOU think.

Sadly I have not yet finished it (it's currently on a back-burner to some other stories that won't take me a million years to finish).

As an image alone, this looks great, and I love the glow. Knowing about the characters gives the image more meaning, too. As for characters... well, first off, the ability to have tectonic plate shifting-ish sex sounds awesome. And Tabaet sounds really interesting... Azazel too, but Tabaet especially. I especially like that he chooses his own shape and yet doesn't put the energy into making it look super attractive and energized. That's an interesting trait for a shapeshifter. Anyway, looking forward to whatever else you choose to share of these two and their universe!

I love it. I'm not sure what you're looking for from me!

I'm enamored with the coloring and I've always been a huge fan of your line work. I love how it looks like they're...not glowing, but emanating light. The shadows on Tabaet's face are pretty stellar because they're so soft. And I find the story kind of heartbreaking.
