Dragon Flight - animation

This is what I submitted for one of my assignments in my 2D animation class.

The idea here was that we were learning how to Rotoscope. So this is traced over that scene in Harry Potter where he's standing out in a courtyard in the snow, and Hedwig flies off his arm. I think it's from Sorcerers Stone. Anyway, we were supposed to not only make it our own, but make it a complete story. All five seconds of it.

For the record, I actually really liked my teacher.

The idea behind the story here, is that it's a dragon, taking flight. I turned Harry's body into a statue, put in another statue, and made it a waterfall, to express the size of the dragon. But there needed to be a REASON he was taking flight, or else it wasn't a story. So I had him being attacked by a flock or birds, the way crows gang up on birds of prey. It made it really interesting to me to think about how dragons would have interacted with our world. Most of the largest creatures in the world aren't predators, so I toyed with the thought of this being an herbivorous dragon.
